"Our Class", now in English by Ryan Craig, inspired by the Jan Gross book, Neighbors, is presented in association with The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh. The play portrays a group of school children, Jewish and Catholic, who declare their ambitions: one to be a fireman, one a film star, one a pilot, another a doctor, in 1925 Poland. As the children grow up, their country is torn apart by invading armies, Nazi and Soviet. Internal grievances deepen as fervent nationalism develops; friends betray friends, and violence escalates in streets, schools and homes.

The play shows how ordinary people are capable of carrying out extraordinary and monstrous acts that resonate to this day.

"Having reverently studied the scriptures of the world, I could no more ask a Christian or a Moslem or a Parsi or a Jew to change his faith than I would think of changing my own."
-- Mahatma Gandhi
