Actress, playwright and educator Susan Stein will lead participants in an interactive workshop that will lead to a greater and fuller understanding of young people's diaries of daily life under Nazi rule, teaching them how to integrate primary source documents into their curricula. Although content driven, this workshop provides lessons that teachers can use with a variety of texts. Step by step exercises are designed so teachers can replicate them in their classrooms. Participants will learn to help their students engage with texts in a new way, build students comprehension, develop their understanding of a difficult moment in history and glimpse its moral dilemmas. Participants will receive materials and study guides for use with their students and colleagues.
