Classrooms Without Borders is very excited to welcome Hagit Yaso, the winner of the Israeli version of "American Idol" (called "A Star Is Born"), for performances and a talk here in Pittsburgh.

Hagit, just 21, was born in Israel, after her parents left their native Ethiopia in the 1990s. She grew up in Sderot, where she experienced the constant barrage of rockets from Gaza. She worked as an assistant daycare worker in a kibbutz near her home until her performance on Israeli television catapulted her to fame.

You can read about Hagit here and watch one of her amazing performances here

Here in Pittsburgh she will be accompanied by a keyboardist; her appearances are co-sponsored by the CMU Tartans for Israel, PITT Panthers 4 Israel and  Hillel JUC Pittsburgh.
