Avi Ben-Hur: The Rise and Fall of Greek Jews from 1492-1945

Join Classrooms Without Borders as we welcome back Avi Ben-Hur, CWB Director of Education. Avi will speak about "The Rise and Fall of Greece's Jews from 1942-1945", on December 8th, 7pm at Rodef Shalom Congregation. This event is part of the CWB event series on Jews and Righteous Gentiles in Nazi-occupied Greece, so make sure to also view the traveling exhibit "Triumph of Morality: A Tribute to the Righteous of Greece" in the lobby of Rodef Shalom. 

The event is followed by a light reception. 

About Avi Ben Hur:

A Brooklyn native, Avi Ben-Hur made Aliyah (immigrated to Israel) in 1983. From 2003-2008 Avi was Director of the Archaeological Seminars School for Israeli Tour Guides. In 2008 Avi participated in re-writing the curriculum of the National Guiding courses for the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. During 2002-2003, Avi led the curriculum development team for MELITZ America's unique Israel centered curriculum. As a "Scholar in Residence, Avi has lectured, taught and facilitated workshops in Pittsburgh, New Jersey, New York and Baltimore.

At Present, Avi is on the faculty of the University of Haifa Tourism School, is an examiner for the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and is the Director of Education of Classrooms Without Borders.

An eclectic Israeli educator specializing in Land of Israel studies, the history of Jerusalem, the Arab-Israeli conflict and Holocaust studies, Avi's expertise is in integrating ideas and knowledge from various disciplines into a comprehensive and coherent narrative.
Avi has collaborated with Dr. Tsipy Gur on the guiding concepts that inform CWB's educational programming and has accompanied all travel seminars as the scholar in residence since the organization's inception in 2011. In addition to formulating the educational content for CWB programs, Avi also lectures and teaches for CWB in Pittsburgh – annually – in order to facilitate the incorporation of the ideas learned in the seminars into the classroom.
